How does the engineer see with the sunshade down?

The train is actually going away from the camera in this photograph. The guard normally occupies the trailing cab in a 3-Car Unit and often extend the blind fully to shield their eyes from the sun. These new Units only have a driver's seat in the cab because most times the train operates with one Train Crew Member in each cab.

Is the train running wrong road, or is it just a passing loop?

Stephen, at Patterson there is a Passing Loop (left) and Main Line (right). In this photo, the train is travelling through on the Main Line. Trains normally run on the left hand-side where the track is duplicated in Queensland.
