Peter, I stood right where you are standing one quiet morning in March of 1995 (still ATSF). Coming up from behind you (westbound up the hill), I could hear a manifest grinding up in run 8 for 5 minutes before it came into view. All EMD's, it was fantastic!! (I did take some photo's, but not RP quality. Wish I'd had sound, too)
