This locomotive is out of service?

The 7318, I believe, was sold to Scoular Grain last year, and has been repainted dark blue with no lettering, or such was the last photo of it I saw.

This is not the last SD18 in existance. There are a few others extant, but they are very rare engines. This locomotive has an interesting history, but it's way too long to tell here.

The locomotive was purchased from Cargill a few years back. It had been sitting inside for 4 or 5 years in Monterey, IN. It was then moved to North Judson, IN, where it sat inside for a year, then after a falling out with the owner, it was moved up to it's current location. The loco does run, and last ran in 2003. It's current fate is tied to whether CSX will move it out of Wellsboro. If they move it, it will more than likely be repainted and sold to a short line or some other industrial buyer. The left front wheel needs turning, and there is some question if CSX will move it with the wheel as-is. Currently the owner is waiting for CSX to inspect the loco, but there is a shortage of loco inspectors, so it could be a long time before this guy moves off the old Wabash sub.

I was just there aug. 2006(wellsboro) its still there and in c&o paint. The unit was nosed up to a shed ,hard to get a good roster ,but you know I used a lot of film on it anyway.

Update: This loco is now going to be used locally on the Chesapeake and Indiana railroad between Wellsboro and Malden, Indiana. I am not sure when it's going into service, but that is the latest info I have on this loco. It will NOT be repainted for the time being.
