4044, pictured here, is the same lead unit which slammed in to a rock slide at Schodack Landing on the Hudson Division as it was pulling train number one "The Pacemaker" in 1955. The unit left the track landing on its side in the river fatally injuring the engineer. Within the year 4044 was back in service and went on to later star in a scene at LaSalle Street Station in "North by Northwest."
