The tuscan and gold scheme was based on the scheme NW used on a their "Redbird" GP9s that replaced the J-class steamers in passenger service by 1960. In the late 70s, NW had 6 C30-7s (8010/8076-8080) and one SD40-2 (6175) painted in this scheme to be used on OCS specials. They spent plenty of time in regular revenue service as well.
