Some of the U28Bs ended their service lives working with ex-Rock Island and ex-Burlington Northern U28B cousins on the Transkentucky Transportation Inc. between Paris, KY. and Maysville, Ky. Some were scraped at Paris after all reusable parts were removed. Some of the P&LE units had the remaining frames simply cut in half and placed on tractor trailers and hauled via I-64 east to Mansbach metals in Ashland, Ky. I know this because I passed one of them on a trip east on the Interstate.
