I've seen one of these sets pass by me empty once, and it was only as long as what is visable in this photo
more or less. So I can only imganine what it was like.

I actually live near a very small 'factory' that makes rails. They simply load them onto the cars as they are made. Then I imagine this is what you see once a load of cars is complete with the rails. I always wondered if they cut them once they were loaded onto the railcars though (so that they could travel), & I guess they only cut where they have to.

They're only clamped to the middle, or anchor car. The rails are just resting on all the other cars.
