Hmmm.. I did not think Conrail ordered any EMD with HT-c trucks, they were to busy being scared after what the SDP-40s mishaps had shown.

Conrail was afraid of the HTC trucks on these big boys, but the Erie Lackawanna was the one that ordered them in 1972, however CR kept them captive in helper service for almost their entire careers. Luckily this unit didn't meet the scrappers torch as fellow CSX SD45-2 8972 did, 8976 is now part of the Ohio Central fleet. Also thanks for posting all of the neat shop shots Brian, I always find them interesting. Keep up the great work.
