End of the day, but not time to go home yet.
After just barely getting my flashes setup I capture the last light of the day and a shot of a train that won't be around much longer. A loaded Pleasant Prairie coal train pounds its way over the diamonds heading east toward Chicago where it will veer north towards the state line and into Pleasant Prairie. There, it will off load it's approximate 10,000 tons of coal at a plant that has served North-East Wisconsin for 37 years, and just three months after this picture was taken, Wisconsin Energy announced that it would be closing the "Cloud Factory" as it has been deemed in late 2018 as part of its plan to re-tool and invest into cleaner and more efficient energy sources.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
