Remarks & Notes
The railroad ferry "Chief Wawatam" has arrived at Mackinaw City and is ready to unload on March 28th (my birthday!) of 1972. The Chief ran between St. Ignace and Mackinaw City and was ultimately doomed by the completion of the Mackinac Bridge. She was converted to a barge and then ultimately scrapped. Somehow, her steam engine was saved and still survives. Russ Porter photo from my collection.
