On April 5, 1985, Steamtown acquired former Nickel Plate Road GP9 514 from the Norfolk & Western as part of a three-way deal that sent N&W 1218 to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. A year later, the road switcher, restored to its original livery, stands by the backshop at Scranton, Pennsylvania.
