I’ve never regretted any train ride that I’ve taken, although I usually am thinking about the photos that I’m missing while on board the train, and I don’t make a priority of riding for that reason. Knowing that the last traditional passenger train in the country was soon to end, I did make a priority of a few legs of the Rio Grande Zephyr. I made sure to ride in the dome, experience the observation car, and have both dinner and breakfast in the diner, but for me, enjoying the cool air in the Dutch door was the real highlight.
