| Preparing to take on the famous Southern loops, N&W 611 is westbound ascending the grade with “The Blue Ridge Special” at the toe of the fill. In matter of minutes, the train will have climbed over 100ft in elevation in matter of four minutes. The picture does not do justice the sounds that echoed off the mountains of the magnificent task that the locomotive has undertaken to climb the grade through the Appalachians. |
