Remarks & Notes
A Comeng set clatters over the tramway crossing on Glen Huntly Road, approaching Glenhuntly station (the suburb is Glen Huntly - but the station has always been written without the space). This is one of four places in Melbourne where a 1500v DC heavy rail line crosses a 600v DC tram line on the level. In this particular case, the railway is the triple-track Frankston line - with a 10 minute off-peak frequency, as well as two daily return freight services. Trains roll over the crossing at 20km/h, meaning the booms can stay down for a very long time when it's busy! Unsurprisingly, this crossing is high on the list to be grade separated.
