Remarks & Notes
On spring afternoons, clouds often pile up against the foothills along the Joint Line between Denver and Palmer Lake letting loose brief thunderstorms that can fill dry creek beds and slow traffic to a crawl. On May 9, 1964, Santa Fe 266C is just south of Castle Rock, one step ahead of the rain with the afternoon freight from La Junta. A 1951-built F7A, the 266C in 1971 will be transformed into a CF7 road switcher by Cleburne shops and hang on the roster another decade.
