Remarks & Notes
A westbound grain train charges through the middle Drano tunnel in the Columbia River Gorge at 5:30pm. Visible on the hillside above are the remains of the Broughton Log Flume which was used to transport logs 9 miles from the Willard mill to the now closed Hood Lumber Mill near Underwood. The flume was abandoned in 1986 after 70 years of operation. Perspective is from an 18 foot motorboat, a few yards off the riverside looking north.
