Reading T1 2111 pulls tonnage on the PRR Northern Region in the Williamsport area. These engines were leased by the PRR as a cheaper alternative than doing class repairs on their own aging fleet of steam engines and served out of the Renovo terminal. They ran them hard, kind of like a railfan rental vehicle. This photo came at the end of a prolific three-weeks of railfan photography by John and his friend Bill Rosenberg, covering several states and two countries, August, 1956, via old school railfan rental vehicle, Greyhound bus.
