It's a crisp fall day and 611 is waiting for a signal, sitting on 300 PSI with not so much as a feather of steam, no hiss, quiet as electric, ready to give the school children aboard a free short ride to the next station courtesy of railroad. Very few chasers, diehards only. My best day with 611.

When Norfolk & Western merged with the Southern Railway, two of its locomotives, #611 and #1218, were fired up and used on excursions.
