| Connecting the coalfields of West Virginia and the intimidating grades over Alleghany, the route of the C&O east of Clifton Forge is an essential route to enabling CSX's former C&O territories to the Atlantic at Newport News. On a dreary Saturday afternoon, high priority eastbound CSX Q130 crosses the James River as seen from the popular Lyle overlook near Springwood. |
