Owing to New Jersey's damage from Hurricane Sandy, several ethanol trains are being detoured over other routes to Providence, Rhode Island for transloading. On November 3, the first detoured train to use the Green Mountain Gateway route from Whitehall, NY to Providence, RI via Vermont Rail System, New England Central, and Providence & Worcester, was moved. NECR (ex-FEC) GP40-3 437 leads CSOR SD40-2 3771, and matched SD45-carbody SD40-2Ms, NECR 2680 and 2674, through the yard at Brattleboro, Vermont. The ethanol extra took the siding to allow the passage of Amtrak's northbound Vermonter train.
