A unique event during the Dean Forest Railway Diesel Gala on the 15th September 2012 was the visit to the line of preserved "Hastings Unit" 1001.Affectionately known as "Thumpers",these diesel electric units worked services from London to Hastings from the mid 1950s until the late 1980s.1001 is seen here departing from Parkend station,the terminus of the line,deep in the Royal Forest Of Dean.
