Proud Nevada Native. She may have been "born" in Pennsylvania, and she might be visiting Colorado, but whenever she travels, her owner leaves no doubt as to where home is. Whenever Eureka & Palisade #4 performs in front of a crowd, Dan Markoff affixes the flags of the United States of America and the State of Nevada to her flagstands. On this particular day, she had been part of the Durango & Silverton's "Parade of Trains" during the annual Railfest event. When the party was over, Dan was kind enough to pose her just outside her stall at the Durango Roundhouse, so that folks participating in Pete Lerro's night shoot could get a few snaps if they so desired. So, while everyone else was blasting away at the roundhouse crew feverishly working on some Alco product, I snuck away and got my portrait of the real "Belle of the Ball".
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
