Here you see Reading Railroad 4-8-4 No. 2124 being pushed into the Steamtown paint shop. Most famous for pulling the Reading Rambles in 1959-1961, No.2124 is in the final stages of its Steamtown asbestos abatement project. The asbestos has been removed, new sheet metal jacketing has been applied, removed piping will be re-applied and soon the locomotive will look like it should. One of the abatement contractor employee's communicates with a co-worker who is pushing the locomotive into the paint shop with a track mobile. I was part of the train crew that placed No. 2124 in the building earlier that day. I have not seen No. 2124 move in almost fifty years and to see those big drivers roll, even dead in tow, was outstanding.
