Saturday Snow. A nice overnight snowfall has coated the trees and greets leased CTrail GP40-3H CTDX 6698 (ex-CSX 2181, exx-SBD 2181, née-CRR 2001, GP38, 4/1967) as it leads MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 6810 through Redding, Connecticut on Saturday, February 17, 2024. In the background is the former Geoppler Cider & Vinegar Mill, now a private residence. Built in 1893, Adolf E. Geoppler bought apples from the apple orchards in the area, pressing 15 bushels into each 50 gallon barrel and selling it for about $2. It also served as a post office and train station called Sanford for the many families with that name in the area until the mail was confused with the Town Of Sanford, CT one time too many and it was renamed Topstone, the name that the road behind the photographer still bears today.
