Conrail On The Hudson. CSX M403-08 was appropriately led across former Conrail territory by CSXT 1976 (Conrail Heritage) on Friday, September 8, 2023, seen passing through Fort Montgomery, New York. From 1976 when it was created as an amalgamation of struggling or bankrupt northeast railroads until 1999 when it was purchased by Norfolk Southern and CSX and split up, Conrail operated this trackage, today's CSX River Sub. This locomotive is one of a series that CSX has started to release with a modern CSX painted cab and a "heritage" body, with the scheme of a predecessor railroad and numbered for the year that company began operating.
