Remarks & Notes
Bag Mail Express. On Saturday, August 5, 2023, NAUG 859 (née-NW 859, GP9, 6/1959) held down the assignment as the power for the day at the Railroad Museum of New England. The striking "Pevler Blue" color, named after President of the Norfolk And Western Railway Herman H. Pevler has quickly become a favorite on the Thomaston, Connecticut based railroad operation. Also recently painted, New Haven 3659 was built as a troop slpr in 1945 and was later converted a "bag-mail-express" car. The Naugatuck River Scenic Train was the last run of the day, departing from Thomaston at 2:30 PM for Waterbury, and offering passengers a stop over at a local business as the power ran around to the other end of the train before returning to the station.
