| A BNSF rail train is overtaken by Amtrak's westbound Southwest Chief after having just completed a joint operation with Herzog crews along the siding. Freight trains are an uncommon sight along the Raton subdivision, though they do occasionally appear on the line to conduct track maintenance. This comes just a week after a pre-season monsoon nearly washed out the line just north of this location. This train would follow the Chief westbound to Las Vegas yard, where it would tie down for the rest of the day before continuing on to Canyoncito Tuesday for additional rail work. |
