| While double stack intermodal trains are a "dime a dozen" on lines like the Transcon and the Overland, they are far less common in the Denver-Metro area. Indeed, they are probably one of the least photographed types of trains I have. However, BNSF does run a Z-Train between Denver and Chicago (and back) six days a week. The eastbound version typically departs Denver shortly after sunrise in the summer months. Here, an ES44C4 and a pair of C44-9Ws lead the hot shot east by the glass reflection of Barr Lake. |
