More than 170 years after construction began on this facility the original purpose of repairing and maintaining the railroad's massive fleet of locomotives continues. Strategically nestled at the foot of the Alleghenies, the town of Altoona came to be because of the railroad and to this point over 16,000 people have made their livelihood in this complex. Its business as usual as the sun sets on a gorgeous fall evening over the turntable at this massive facility.
