Sole Survivor. Great Lakes Locomotive (GLLX) 6 (ex-McLouth Steel of Trenton, Michigan, SW900, EMD, 1954) is in Staunton, Virginia receiving much needed attention from Precision Locomotive Maintenance Services on Friday, November 18, 2022. This unit, nicknamed "Big Mike”, was removed from the steel mill before a massive Superfund cleanup was completed in 2021. As part of the project, 45 buildings were demolished and substantial remediation was performed at a cost of over $20 million with the goal of creating the opportunity for the land to be redeveloped in the future.
