Remarks & Notes
First Diesel. What started as the narrow gauge Buffalo, Attica & Arcade Railroad in 1917 became the Arcade & Attica Railroad Corporation. ARA 110 (44-ton, GE) was the first diesel engine (and the first new locomotive) purchased by the railroad as steam was being phased out 1941. The A&A credits this engine with cutting expenses so much that it saved the railroad from going out of business. While other centercabs are still in use here today in both passenger and freight service, 110 sits on static display near East Main Street in Arcade, New York, as seen on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
