Remarks & Notes
Portsmouth based local DO-1 crosses one of the wooden pile trestles spanning Great Bay, at the mouth of the Squamscott River on the Portsmouth Branch. The local is crossing from Stratham, NH into Newfields, NH and is powered by two ex-CN GP40-2LW #506 and #512 with 27 empties in tow. Dover Yard is the destination for their evening, but the crew must first runaround their train at Rockingham Junction which is located about a mile from the trestles. One can notice the local is about to cross a former drawbridge span; built as a shear pole - swing drawbridge, which was common on 19th Century Railroads. The drawbridge sections measures 32ft long with a rebuild date of 1939 by the Boston & Maine Railroad (originally built by the Portsmouth and Concord Railroad with an unknown date).
