| The sun is setting on another day along the former N&W Pocahontas Division as Norfolk Southern SD70ACe #1187 grinds upgrade in Notch 8 outside of Elkhorn, WV during the late afternoon of March 21, 2021. The fencing you see to the right is to protect the tracks against falling rocks. While I do not know if this same system is in place, during the N&W days if a large rock(s) were to fall and break through the fencing a relay was tripped which would change the nearest east and westbound facing CPL to a "stop" indication. |
