Climbing out of Laurel, northbound trains on the Laurel Sub zig zag through areas once sparse and unpopulated, now one of the most popular and expensive real estate markets in the area. One of the most fancy gated communities is pictured here, as empties for the Signal Peak Mine continue their 21 mile climb up the .6% grade to Acton where the grade finally levels off. After disappearing around the bend, cows and coyotes will outnumber people for the remainder of their journey as they leave civilization behind.
