Rumbling across 2nd Nehalem. At a stately pace, Columbia River Belt Line Railway #7 rumbles across the 2nd Nehalem River Bridge about a quarter mile south of the little town of Mohler, Oregon. This river crossing really marks the entry of the former Southern Pacific Tillamook Branch into the mountainous Nehalem River Canyon. From here on out, the railroad pretty much follows the Nehalem and Salmonberry Rivers as it makes its way east, all the way to Banks, Oregon. Unfortunately, the more remote portions of the canyon line are no longer passable, due to numerous washouts.
