Couplers between two Rio Grande gons show wear, chipping paint and the indelible link between all cars that make a train as seen in Chama Yard in New Mexico in July 1981. Even though these couplers are on 3-foot gauge freight cars, Rio Grande used standard gauge-size couplers in its narrow gauge equipment.
