One of the original Viewliner prototypes, which happens to be the last passenger car shell manufactured by Budd, is now a theater/inspection car named "American View." It was originally built as a Sleeper, and interior outfitted and completed by Amtrak's Beech Grove shops in the late 80s. The car served as a test bed for the production run of Viewliner I Sleepers that rolled out in 1996, built by Morrison-Knudsen (which went bankrupt before the order was complete) and finished by Amerail.
