Remarks & Notes
CAGY 2777 and the CAGY 2000 await their chance to enter the KCS Tuscaloosa Sub and head back to Columbus. This was only a few months before the GWI take over on June 1st. The C&G was yet another victim of short line conglomerate take overs. Though things have slowed down since this image, many long lived short lines were gobbled up never to return. The CAGY 2000 was almost put in the C&G roundhouse at once to be repainted. It carried a commemorative C&G scheme but as typical with GWI take overs, the first thing to go is former company pride and image and GWI wasted no time in doing away with that. It was repainted into GWI colors and eventually chop nosed. The 2777 recently received the same fate.
