Another railway line of Chile, which was partly destroyed by the heavy floods in august 2015, was the "Tocopilla" of the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile from Tocopilla to Maria Elena (1067 mm gauge or 3 ft 6 in). The railway line was shut down in november 2015 and road traffic took over. At Barilles, the diesellocomotive SW1200M # 25 (former Codelco) brought a loaded nitrate train from Maria Elena. Now the General Electric boxcabs # 601 "Andrea" and # 607 "Alejandra" from 1927/1928 took over the train for the run down to Tocopilla, operating with 1500 V DC from the overhead wire.
