Remarks & Notes 
The DX class was built by General Electric's Erie, PA plant and entered service from 1972. From 1988 the DX class received a series of modifications and, were classified DXB. Assisting is DC 4671 an EMD G12 rebuild. The train bound for Invercargill is crossing Clutha overflow with the bridge over the longest river in South Island in the distance.

Trains on 3' 6" (1.067m) track from Whangarei to Bluff with virtually heritage rebuilt EMD and GE locomotives still the mainstay power. The network was privatized in 1990's and operated by Toll until 2008 when state owned KiwiRail was established.
