A month before the coming of Amtrak, the power at Penn Central's New Haven Motor Storage adjacent to the station represents the usual PC mix, with an ex-PRR E8 and a GG1 joined by an ex-NH GP9 and several FL9s, one in the short-lived Metropolitan Region blue/yellow paint scheme.
