Remarks & Notes
A 75 car empty coal train out of Russell is working down the EB&V Sub towards Hazard. About 5 miles back a new crew jumped onboard this train at Martin for the trip over to Hazard. The train is seen here coming out of the 3rd tunnel since departing Martin. This tunnel is located near Langley, and the train is about to pass under highway 80. The EB&V Sub (Elkhorn & Beaver Valley) runs 37 miles from the Big Sandy Extension Sub near Arkansas, to Deane where it connects with the Rockhouse Sub over to Hazard. Mainly coal mine runs is all this branchline sees. This was an old C&O Branch back in the day.
