After sunset on July 2, 2016, three Union Pacific coal trains rumble over Logan Hill north of Bill, Wyoming. On the right is a load that is crested the hill and is headed south. On the next track over is an empty headed back to a mine to load. As this train curved over the top, it dimmed it headlights, as did another load climbing the grade is led by SD70ACe No. 8753. Even though Powder River Basin main lines can still be busy, the western-most track in this view is temporarily out of service during this time frame due to lower traffic levels.
Railroading is a 24 hour a day business, that never sleep. From sunset to sunrise the railroad must run. These image are taken by some of the best rail photographer out their.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
