Remarks & Notes
The original D&RG roadbed through Gunnison Canyon is still apparent. In fact, it's a hiking trail up to a boat ride, which takes riders past the Curecanti Needle, a famous logo from days of Rio Grande yore. I don't know how much further a person can walk past the boat dock, but not soon after, the downgrade dips below the Gunnison River/reservoir. It is still pretty fun to imagine steam trains rolling along this canyon.
