There was once a time when local kids could hang out at small town stations manned by a friendly agent and catch the action. At Milldale, CT, on the New Haven's Canal Line branch, these guys were watching the crew and SW1200 of local freight NX-18 out of Plainville perform the daily switching chores. In 2018 the branch has become a rail trail, the station now houses a museum, and those kids would be about 60 years old.
