Remarks & Notes
A view down from the Griggeler mountain (2021 meter a.s.l., hight difference about 1550 meter) down to Erstfeld railway station, on the foot of the Gotthard mountain line. This was more then 5 years ago, much changed since then! Nowadays the station is more or less empty, bypassed by the new Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT). Parts of the depot area are gone, replaced by the new intervention center for maintenance and rescue in the GBT. But in june 2013 there was much to see. On track 1 a southbound Intercity tilt train ICN RABDe 500 is running towards the Gotthard. On track # 6 (the fifth track, because there is no track # 3 anymore, replaced by the platform) a southbound freight train with "Re 10/10" (Re 6/6 in multiple with a Re 4/4 II) and 4 axle cars transporting coils can be seen. Probably changing of engineer, probably for adding a pusher locomotive in the rear (mostly a Re 4/4 II) for the north ramp til Göschenen. Another train is standing ready to run northwards (to the right) with Re 6/6, an Am 843 diesellocomotive and a tractor Tm 234 "Ameise", followed by several empty rail transport cars. On the right side of the shed are 5 Re 4/4 II waiting for duty. More to the left there are two Ae 6/6 locomotives (a green one and one in the blue/red CARGO paint scheme), then in her "last days". In the foreground is the fire fighting and rescue train with a Bm 4/4 dieselocomotive on the left side (in the meantime replaced by a new model). On the far left south of the platform a black "Taurus" Siemens ES64 U2 of Dispolok. On the right in the stub tracks several red 185 locomotives of Deutsche Bahn and a Re 486 of the BLS Cargo, waiting for work. Several diesel locomotives of type Am 841 and Am 843 can be seen in the station.
