The Elusive Shot (for me). This is Q211 on today's version of its daily run over the CN&L Bridge into Columbia, SC. I have wanted to catch this shot for over two years, but the timing hasn't worked out for one reason or another. Today, when I heard over the scanner that Q211 was leaving Slighs, SC, I thought I would have sufficient time to get to Riverfront Park from my home and catch it. Riverfront Park is about 15 minutes from my home, plus about a 10-12 minute walk to the photo location; Slighs is milepost 30.0 and this is close to milepost .8. I moved fairly purposely, though I didn't rush, and drove down to Riverfront Park, got my camera bag and backpack, hooked up the scanner, and started walking. About five minutes from my intended photo spot (on a steady walk), the scanner came on and dispatch asked where Q211 was at; the response was the C 3.0, about 2 miles away from the photo location. So I took off running at a very fast clip and made it just in time to catch the shot.
