1275 was built by North British, Glasgow and was in service from 1952 to 1967. After restoration 1275 returned to main line in 2004. The train consisting of rolling stock based at Glenbrook Vintage Railway participated in fundraising trips from Whangarei to Portland and Kauri. The morning trips this day provided rides for disadvantaged children, many of whom probably had not seen or riden a steam train before.
Railway Enthusiasts Society has operated rail excursions around NZ since 1958, some steam hauled using rolling stock from Glenbrook Vintage Railway which it established in 1970's near Auckland. See www.railfan.org.nz
