On a winter trip to Vermont, we headed east from Rutland in hopes of intercepting the Green Mountain train coming from Bellows Falls. We made it to Spring Lake, where a distant headlight indicated we should set up for a shot. Wanting to take advantage of the snow on the ground., we chase an atypical (for us) grade crossing shot to get the train bucking some of the white powder. As the train came into view, the anticipated GMRC RS1 was actually a recently-acquired patched BN GP9, which stung a little. And then there were the chunks of packed snow/ice that the EMD launched in our direction. They stung a little more.
