What a pleasant surprise this was! The last time I had been through Beaumont, TX, the "station" consisted of just a small piece of pavement with no structure. This nice platform with and structure with canopy and enclosed waiting room was a major upgrade. Way to go City of Beaumont, Amtrak and UP! I was passing through on the Sunset Limited.
The Lone Star State is big on route mileage but small on passenger service with only three routes for the second biggest state by size and population. Offerings include the Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer.
